02Overview
A first look
Riding a camel with the pyramids in the distance is a simple pleasure, and late afternoon is the best time for it. This outing takes you to the desert beside the Giza Plateau. To be clear, you do not go inside the ticketed pyramids site: the ride follows the open desert next to it, and the pyramids are the view. You are collected from your Cairo or Giza hotel in mid-afternoon, meet your camel and handler at the stables, ride for about an hour, and stop for tea as the light fades. The pick-up time shifts with the season so that you catch the sunset.
Background
The facts

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Where does this outing start and finish?
At your hotel in Cairo or Giza. Your driver collects you in mid-afternoon, at about 15:30 depending on the season, and brings you back to the same hotel between 18:00 and 18:30.02How do I book, and does the price change with group size?
You book online and your place is confirmed straight away. The fare is per person and falls as the party grows, because the vehicle and escort are shared between more of you. The booking page shows the fare for the number of travellers you choose.03Do we go inside the Giza Plateau?
No. You ride across the open desert alongside the Giza Plateau rather than through its ticketed gates, so plateau admission is not part of the fare. The pyramids are in view throughout the ride.04How many camels do we need, and can children ride?
There is one camel for each adult. Children may ride on the same camel as a parent. Please tell us the children's ages when you book.05How are the camels looked after?
We use stables we know. If anything looks wrong to you on the day, whether it is the animal, the saddle or how it is being handled, please tell your escort straight away so we can act on it.06What if I need to cancel?
Give us more than 72 hours' notice and you can keep 100% as credit towards a future holiday or have 100% refunded, less bank charges. Between 72 and 24 hours beforehand, keep 100% as credit or have 50% back. Within 24 hours, or if you don't turn up, nothing can be refunded or credited. Should we have to cancel, you won't lose a penny.
