Luxury Egypt Holidays

A luxury Egypt holiday isn't just about the hotels – though the Marriott Mena House overlooking the Pyramids, the Old Cataract in Aswan and the Four Seasons Nile Plaza in Cairo set a high bar. It's about access: a private sunrise slot at the Pyramids before the day-trip groups arrive, a senior Egyptologist with a research background rather than a rote script, and a dahabiya Nile cruise with six cabins instead of two hundred. Every luxury Egypt holiday we build is genuinely private: no shared departures, no other groups, no rigid timing. Tell us what you care most about and we design the holiday around it.

The hallmarks

The hallmarks of a luxury Egypt holiday

A truly exclusive luxury Egypt holiday goes far beyond five-star hotels. It's about moving through Egypt effortlessly – from private airport assistance to seamless transfers and a dedicated Egyptologist who understands your pace and interests. Picture standing before the Great Pyramid of Giza without feeling rushed, or exploring the tombs of the Valley of the Kings with expert insight tailored to your party.

Whether you prefer a fully tailor-made private holiday, a refined family journey or an elevated version of a classic itinerary, true Egypt luxury lies in personalisation, privileged access and thoughtful details that turn a standard Egypt holiday into a seamless, deeply memorable trip.

How to choose

How to choose your luxury itinerary

Choosing the right luxury Egypt holiday comes down to how you'd like to balance historical discovery with world-class relaxation. Three pillars usually decide the shape.

Your style of navigation

Do you picture yourself on a large luxury Nile cruise with full spa facilities, or would you prefer the intimacy of a private dahabiya? Larger 5-star ships (Oberoi Philae, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV) carry 40 to 60 suite-only cabins with butler service and Egyptologist guides retained per group. Dahabiyas (6 to 12 cabins, sail under canvas) moor at small bank sites the big ships can't reach – Silsila, El Kab, Hagar Silsila – and the dinners are on the sundeck under stars. Read more on our luxury Nile cruise or dahabiya pages.

Your style of stay

Cairo opens with a choice between the Marriott Mena House at the foot of the Pyramids plateau (hosting guests since 1869) or the Four Seasons Nile Plaza in central Cairo. Aswan's signature is the Sofitel Old Cataract, whose Agatha Christie suite is the room the Death on the Nile film used. Luxor's Sofitel Winter Palace puts you walking distance from the East Bank temples for the evening sound-and-light show.

Your level of access

True Egypt luxury is the privileged moments other guests don't get. A private 5:30am gate-open at the Pyramids, with ninety minutes on the plateau before any other visitor. KV5 or KV9 after-hours in the Valley of the Kings – the tombs the day-trip groups don't reach. A senior Egyptologist whose name is on the academic literature, not just a tour brochure. Each of these is arranged by our Cairo office and built into the itinerary, never an upsell.

Dahabiya Nile Cruise 4 Nights, Embark 2nd August - Solar Eclipse 2027

    Esna

This deluxe 5-star dahabiya is an intimate, sail-powered way to travel on the Nile, with a slower rhythm than larger motor cruisers. Your shared-boat booking is priced per person sharing a cabin, with the vessel assigned at booking. The four-night sailing embarks on 2 August 2027, timed for the total solar eclipse visible in Egypt. Lateen sails, quiet riverbanks and smaller landing points define the experience, while a chef-prepared full-board menu covers lunch on embarkation day through breakfast on disembarkation day. Drinks beyond water with meals are generally extra. Unlike large Nile cruisers, a dahabiya can usually reach quieter stretches and smaller archaeological sites, although sailing is more dependent on wind conditions.

Accommodation is arranged in hotels and aboard an assigned Nile cruiser, with an Egyptologist accompanying the sightseeing programme. Standard Egyptian site entrance fees, transfers and accommodation are included unless stated otherwise. Domestic flights are excluded, so the relevant sectors must be arranged separately. Practical questions

What clients ask about this style of holiday.

  1. 01What makes a luxury Egypt holiday different from a standard one?

Three things: hotel tier (5-star with recognised names – Marriott Mena House, Four Seasons, St. Regis, Old Cataract Aswan), guiding exclusivity (senior Egyptologist, no group sharing), and access privileges like private sunrise slots at the Pyramids, after-hours tomb visits in the Valley of the Kings, and dahabiya Nile cruises that moor at sites the big ships can't reach. The price difference – roughly double a 4-star holiday – also buys 24/7 concierge support from our in-house team.

  2. 02What is the best luxury hotel in Egypt near the Pyramids?

Marriott Mena House is the benchmark – 800 metres from the Great Pyramid, hosting guests since 1869, with palace suites overlooking the plateau and a pool set against the ancient skyline. For something more contemporary, the JW Marriott Cairo and the Four Seasons Nile Plaza are the other 5-star standards in the city.

  3. 03How much does a luxury Egypt holiday cost from the UK?

Luxury Egypt holidays start around £3,600 per person for 7 days at suite-level (Marriott Mena House suite, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV cruise) and run to £9,800+ per person for the 15-day dahabiya + Old Cataract Aswan + Four Seasons Cairo configuration. The price typically includes all guiding, admissions, internal flights, transfers in S-Class Mercedes and the cruise/hotel tier. UK flights separate. Add 25–35% for Christmas, New Year and the school half-terms.

  4. 04What's the best luxury Nile cruise ship?

The Oberoi Philae, Oberoi Zahra (4-night sailings) and Sanctuary Sun Boat IV are the three benchmarks – small ships (40–60 cabins), suite-only configurations and Egyptologist guides retained per group not per cruise. For an even smaller scale, the dahabiya Adrere Amellal-class vessels carry 6–12 guests under sail. We hold preferred-partner rates with all four and the team pairs you to the right boat based on dates, party size and how social you'd like to be.

  5. 05What does sunrise Pyramids access actually mean?

Standard tourist hours at Giza open 8am. Luxury Egypt holidays include a 5:30am private gate-open arrangement on a single morning – you have the plateau effectively to yourself for 90 minutes before any other visitor. The arrangement requires advance permits coordinated through our Cairo office and a senior Egyptologist; the cost is built into the holiday. We can do the same at the Valley of the Kings (KV5 / KV9 after-hours) and at Abu Simbel (5am photo session before the day-trip flights land).
