Accessibility
Who can join this
The vessel and shore excursions involve uneven surfaces, stone steps, and gangways that may be steep or narrow. Embarkation and disembarkation use a ramp or gangway that can be angled depending on river level, so wheelchair access is limited and may require a portable ramp and assistance. On board, public areas such as the lounge bar, dining room and sun deck are reached by one or two short internal steps; some cabins have steps at their doorway. Shore visits to the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple and Edfu include cobbled paths, carved stone steps and low ceilings in tombs, with long stretches of standing and bending; Philae has limited gradients but still includes stepped approaches. If you use a wheelchair, have reduced mobility, or need a walking aid, please tell us at booking so we can plan assistance, select lower-deck cabins where possible, and advise which shore excursions are practical. Service animals are generally permitted on board with advance notice; guide dogs should carry internationally recognised ID and vaccinations paperwork.

How we travel here
We contract with carefully selected Nile cruisers that follow Egyptian maritime and waste regulations; vessels are not owned by Discovery Tours Egypt. The sailing programme relies on diesel-powered river engines typical for Nile cruisers; we do not claim alternative propulsion. To reduce single-use plastic, we encourage guests to use refillable water bottles and supply filtered drinking water on board where the vessel has a filling point. Shore excursions use small coach transfers and licensed local Egyptologists, sourcing entrance-ticket income and tips to local businesses and guides. Catering teams are asked to buy fruit, vegetables and bread from local markets in Luxor and Aswan when available, supporting small vendors. Crew and on-board suppliers are contracted locally, and we ask our partners to follow responsible waste segregation and safe disposal practices; specific recycling facilities vary by vessel and port.

A Sara Nile Cruise
A Sara sails the Nile between Aswan and Luxor, calling at Kom Ombo, Edfu, the Valley of the Kings and Luxor's East Bank. Choose the Aswan-to-Luxor, four-day option that departs every Wednesday, or the five-day Luxor-to-Aswan option that departs every Saturday with an optional Abu Simbel extension. Days combine temple visits with short daytime sailings, so you spend more time ashore at Edfu and Kom Ombo than on many tightly timed itineraries. Evenings are spent on deck with river views and relaxed dining. We arrange the Abu Simbel excursion by coach or scheduled flight if you add it when you book.

Discovery Tours Egypt has carefully selected and arranges this cruise as part of your Egypt travel plans. Unlike coach-based group tours, the cruise alternates sailing and on-shore visits for a paced itinerary.

Alyssa Nile Cruise
Alyssa Nile Cruise sails between Luxor and Aswan, calling at Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Kom Ombo, Edfu and Philae Temple. We arrange small-group cruises with English-speaking Egyptologists, full-board meals, airport and port transfers, and entrance fees for the listed sites. Groups are capped at eight participants, so visits are quieter and queuing times are typically shorter than on larger cruise programs. The itinerary includes a horse-drawn chariot visit to Edfu and a folkloric evening ashore. Optional excursions, such as Abu Simbel from Aswan, can be added. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and our Cairo-based team coordinates every detail on the ground, from meet-and-assist to transfers and local guides.
