7-Day Egypt Holidays

A week is the most popular length for a first Egypt holiday – long enough to take in the three essential regions (Cairo, Luxor and Aswan) without rushing. A typical 7-day Egypt holiday opens with two nights in Cairo for the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, then flies south to Luxor for Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings before joining a 4-night Nile cruise that finishes in Aswan, with Abu Simbel as a day excursion. Every itinerary is tailor-made: we adjust hotels, ship class and pacing to suit your party.

Discover Egypt: Luxurious 7-Day Nile Cruise Adventure

This seven-day programme links Cairo's museum galleries and the Giza Pyramids with a deluxe Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor. Visits include the Egyptian Museum, Khufu's Giza complex, Philae, the Aswan High Dam, Kom Ombo, Edfu, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut and Karnak. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we work with experienced Egyptologists and local partners to manage permitted temple visits. We do not run large coach-group tours; every departure has a private Egyptologist for guided visits. Unlike short packaged cruises, this route allows full on-site time at Edfu and Kom Ombo rather than brief quay-side stops. Evening options include a Nile dinner in Cairo and the Karnak Sound and Light show, both available at additional cost.

Practical questions

What clients ask about this style of holiday.

  1. 01Is 7 days enough to see Egypt?

Seven days is enough for the headline sights – the Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Abu Simbel and the main Nile temples on a 4-night cruise. You won't have time for Alexandria, the White Desert or any Red Sea time. For a return visit or a fortnight's holiday, plan for ten to fourteen days.

  2. 02What's included on a tailor-made 7-day Egypt holiday?

Private Egyptologist guide throughout, all internal flights, all temple and museum admissions, 4-star or 5-star accommodation with breakfast, 4-night Nile cruise on a full-board basis, and airport transfers in air-conditioned vehicles. International flights from the UK can be added (ATOL-protected through our UK travel partner) or arranged separately if you have preferred carrier or airport.

  3. 03When is the best time for a 7-day Egypt holiday?

October to April is peak season – comfortable daytime temperatures (low-to-mid 20s°C) and cool desert evenings. May to September is the low season: very hot in the south, but prices drop 25–35% and the Nile temples are noticeably quieter. We'd avoid August in Aswan and Abu Simbel unless heat doesn't bother you.

  4. 04Do UK passport holders need a visa for a 7-day Egypt holiday?

Yes. British passport holders need an Egypt e-Visa – apply online at visa2egypt.gov.eg for around £25 (single entry, 3–5 working days to issue) or use our visa-on-arrival service at Cairo airport for approximately £30, with your stamp waiting when you land. Passport must be valid 6+ months beyond your arrival date. Full visa guidance is sent with every confirmed booking.

  5. 05Is the Nile cruise included on a 7-day Egypt holiday?

Yes – the standard 7-day itinerary is Cairo → fly to Aswan → 3-night Nile cruise sailing north to Luxor (calling at Kom Ombo and Edfu) → Abu Simbel as a day excursion. Land-only 7-day variants exist (Cairo + Luxor in hotels) but the cruise is the default for first-time British visitors and the version most clients book.
