November to March brings cooler days for the temple visits. The sun stays strong all year, so plan for water, shade and sun protection.
02Overview
A first look
Three nights on the Nile take you from Aswan to Luxor aboard a deluxe five-star ship. Aswan gives you Philae, the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk; the river then carries you north to Kom Ombo and Edfu; and Luxor closes the trip with Luxor Temple, Karnak and the West Bank.
An Egyptologist accompanies every visit and meals are taken on board. We organise the cruise and the transfers through trusted local partners, and the ship itself is allocated for your dates.

Accessibility
Who can join this
This Aswan to Luxor cruise involves uneven ancient stone, compacted sand, steps and irregular river quays. Philae Temple, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings have uneven paths, stairs or ramps; some tombs require steep descents. Cruise vessels have steps between decks and ramp access may be limited. Coaches may accommodate standard wheelchairs, but boarding launches or feluccas can involve steps and assistance. Expect to walk around 300 to 500 metres, manage several flights of stairs and stand during guided visits. Step-free access across all sites cannot be guaranteed. Please tell us about mobility needs, wheelchair dimensions or medical equipment at least 14 days before travel so we can discuss arrangements.

Children & families
The minimum age is 4 years. Child fares depend on cabin occupancy and supplier rules; reductions may apply when a child shares with two adults. Infants under 2 may be charged at a reduced rate, but must be declared when booking. A lightweight, foldable pushchair is easiest to manage, though uneven paths and crowded temple areas can make it impractical. High chairs are limited and should be requested at least 14 days ahead. Send each child's age and any support needs so we can check pricing and arrangements.

– Responsible travel
How we travel here
Overland transfers use air-conditioned coaches, while Nile journeys and local crossings use partner cruise boats and launch operators. We work with locally employed Egyptologists, drivers and boat crews, helping direct payments to people working in the region. Where practical, we ask boat partners to support refillable water use and limit single-use plastics; bottled water may be provided where refilling is not possible. Direct coach routes between sites can avoid unnecessary mileage. We cannot verify the fuel use or environmental performance of every supplier, so we do not make claims about emissions reductions. Local restaurants and vendors may be visited, with direct payment to owners where possible. Tell us about specific preferences when you book and we can pass them to suppliers.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01How long does the Aswan to Luxor cruise last?
Four days and three nights on a deluxe five-star ship, travelling north from Aswan to Luxor. The ship is allocated for your dates, so a particular vessel cannot be named beforehand.02Where do I join and leave the ship?
You join in Aswan on day 1, after the morning's sightseeing. Sailing days vary through the year, so we confirm the embarkation day and time when you enquire. On day 4 you leave the ship in Luxor and a driver takes you to Luxor airport.03What does the cruise visit each day?
Day 1 covers the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae at Aswan. Day 2 brings Kom Ombo and Edfu. Day 3 is Luxor Temple and Karnak. Day 4 is the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon.04What is included?
Your three nights aboard come with every meal, plus airport transfers, a qualified Egyptologist, the sightseeing set out in the programme and entry to those sites, including three tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Service charges and taxes are covered; tips, drinks and optional trips such as Abu Simbel are extra.05What is not included?
Tips and gratuities, personal spending, drinks not listed with meals, pyramid interiors, premium tombs such as Tutankhamun and Seti I, and anything outside the programme.06Can Abu Simbel be added?
It can, from Aswan, as an optional excursion at extra cost. It is not part of the standard programme, so please mention it when you enquire.07How much walking is there, and is the trip accessible?
Temple visits involve walking on uneven stone and a few steps, and the Luxor days are fairly long. Let us know about any mobility needs and we will check access for the ship and the sites.08What should I wear and bring?
Light, breathable clothes, comfortable walking shoes, a sun hat and sunscreen. Shoulders and knees should be covered at temples. Winter evenings on the river can be cool, so a light layer is useful.09Can I travel alone?
Yes. Cabin prices are per person based on two sharing, with a single supplement for sole use. We can give you the supplement for your dates.
