Accessibility
Who can join this
This dahabiya cruise requires moderate mobility. Boarding typically uses a short gangway or steps; some embarkation points have uneven stone quays and low-level docks. Cabins are reached by one or two stair flights; there is no elevator on these small sailboats. Shore excursions include walking on uneven ancient stone, sand, and steep temple steps at sites such as Gebel Silsila and El Kab. Wheelchair users should note that full wheelchair access is not possible on most dahabiyas or at several river landings. We can arrange porter assistance at airports and help guests with limited mobility during transfers; please tell us your mobility needs at booking so we can plan appropriate support.

How we travel here
A dahabiya is primarily sail-powered using lateen sails, which reduces fuel use while sailing between Aswan and upstream sites. Because these vessels are small, they use smaller tenders or minimal engine power for manoeuvring, and they visit quays and landing stages that larger cruisers cannot, spreading tourism benefits to smaller riverside communities. We contract local captains, Egyptian crew, and locally sourced produce and provisions where possible, which directs revenue to neighbourhood suppliers and markets. Onboard practices commonly used by our selected partners include reduced single-use plastics, measured water use, and basic waste separation. If you have sustainability preferences, tell us at enquiry so we can note them for the crew and suppliers.

Adelaide Dahabiya Nile Cruise
Sail the Nile aboard the Adelaide Dahabiya for seven days, cruising at a slower, sail-influenced pace that prioritises time ashore. This is a small-boat alternative to four-night motor-ship cruises; the slower schedule lets you visit quieter riverbanks and villages. We arrange private Egyptologists and short road transfers rather than large coach movements. Expect smaller cabins and fewer onboard facilities than a large river cruise ship, and variable sail timings when wind conditions change. We operate Adelaide Dahabiya as a licensed Egyptian tour operator and provide local crew, fuel-powered backup, and all on-shore logistics.

Hadeel Dahabiya Nile Cruise
Hadeel Dahabiya is an intimate sail-powered dahabiya with lateen sails and under a dozen cabins, ideal for slow-paced Nile passages. We hand-picked this dahabiya for travellers who prefer personalised service, chef-prepared meals and access to shallower reaches larger motor cruisers cannot visit. The vessel's shore excursion programme includes Karnak, Luxor Temple, Edfu (Temple of Horus), Kom Ombo, Philae and the Valley of the Kings, with stops at Gebel Silsila and El Kab when conditions permit. The vessel sails weekly in both directions between Luxor and Aswan.

Dahabiya Judi
Dahabiya Judi is a traditional sailing dahabiya, a seven-day Luxor to Aswan cruise visiting Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae. Our Egyptologists lead every guided visit, explaining inscriptions, tomb scenes and temple architecture with archaeological context. Accommodation is onboard the dahabiya with full-board meals, afternoon tea and daily snacks included. We arrange transfers in air-conditioned vehicles and include entrance fees for the scheduled visits. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator, and we prefer slow sailings and small groups rather than coach-style group tours. Unlike larger motorised cruise boats, a dahabiya can moor at smaller islands and provide quieter evenings and longer time ashore at places such as El Kab and Gebel El Silsila.
