Accessibility
Who can join this
This itinerary involves moderate physical demands: uneven stone steps, narrow gangways on boats, and stretches of sand and cobble at temple approaches. Embarking and disembarking the cruise requires stepping up and down inclining gangplanks, often without handrails. Many temples and tombs have multiple stone steps and low doorways; some tombs require stooping. Wheelchair users can access parts of the Nile quayside and wider temple courtyards, but most tomb interiors and smaller temple passages are not wheelchair accessible. If you use a wheelchair or have limited mobility, we can arrange a suitable vehicle and meet you at airport arrivals, but internal site access is limited. Please contact us in advance so our Egyptologists and drivers can plan assistance and any necessary route adjustments.

What to wear

Children & families
Minimum age for unaccompanied participation is 12 years; younger children may join when accompanied by an adult, subject to our advance written approval. Child pricing depends on age and berth configuration on the cruise, and is quoted at booking. Strollers are practical in port and quayside areas but are difficult to use on temple approaches and inside tombs due to stone steps and narrow passages. High chairs and child-specific equipment are provided by the cruise operator on request, subject to availability; please tell us your requirements when you reserve so we can confirm with suppliers.

Your route
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
We use 16-seat air-conditioned minibuses for group transfers and private sedans for two-person bookings, not large tour coaches, to reduce fuel use in local transfers. The cruise segments are on third-party vessels operated by independent cruise companies; we book with operators that employ local crews and source provisions from nearby markets in Luxor and Aswan. Our Egyptologists and most on-the-ground staff are local, salaried guides and drivers, which helps keep tourism income within the communities visited. Single-use plastics are discouraged on our handouts, and we share site-specific guidance with guests on respecting fragile surfaces and not removing artifacts. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and can provide supplier details on request.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01What is included in the price?
Full-board meals on the cruise, guided shore excursions with a licensed Egyptologist, and standard entrance fees at the listed sites (the Valley of the Kings and Karnak in Luxor, Edfu, and Kom Ombo). Drinks and gratuities for the guide and crew are not included.02What is the route?
The cruise sails the classic stretch from Luxor south to Aswan over four nights, with guided sightseeing in Luxor before departure, temple calls at Edfu and Kom Ombo en route, and Aswan’s highlights at the end.03Can I add Abu Simbel?
Yes. An excursion to the twin temples of Abu Simbel can be arranged from Aswan as an optional add-on — most guests visit by road in the early morning. Ask us to include it when you enquire.04Is this suitable for children?
Yes — families cruise the Nile year-round and children are welcome on board. Child rates depend on age and cabin arrangement; tell us your family setup and we will price it for you.05Are tips included?
No — tipping is customary in Egypt but always at your discretion. Gratuities for the Egyptologist guide, driver, and cruise crew are not included in the price.06What should I pack and wear?
Light, breathable layers, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is appreciated when visiting temples. Evenings on the river can be cool in winter, so bring a light jacket.

5 Days Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan
Travel from Luxor to Aswan aboard the dahabiya Nefertari, visiting Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae. Each day combines guided shore visits with relaxed sailing on the Nile, letting you see temples at quieter hours. Our Egyptologists meet you in Luxor and lead the scheduled excursions. We don't run group bus tours; shore visits are led by an Egyptologist rather than a coach guide. Unlike many three-night cruises, this five-day passage includes both Edfu and Kom Ombo with time to explore each temple properly. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we arrange your transfers, guided visits and onboard bookings in Egypt.
